Welcome to Window Shopper Manila, my creative outlet and daily dose of inspiring window displays and in-store retail design in the city. I'm just another shopper really, looking for a brand new find. Remember Rebecca Bloomwood in Sophie Kinsella's Confessions of a Shopaholic? Well, I'm kinda like her except aside from the merchandise, what gets me inside the store is a really effective window display. 

What is Visual Merchandising? It is "the display of products which makes them appealing, attractive, accessible, engaging, and enticing to shoppers in a retail store. Visual merchandising utilizes displays, color, lighting, smells, sounds, digital technology and interactive elements to catch customers' attention and persuade them to make purchases. Visual merchandising helps convey the image of the brand and reflects the personality of the target markets that the retail store wants to attract." 


Window Shopping -- entering a well-designed store, looking around rows and shelves of merchandise, taking in the sight of newly released items, appreciating the art put into the display, maybe even spotting a good find... It's all exhilarating, don't you agree? :)


I'm a business manager and a writer for a magazine but in an alternate universe, I'd love to work in the fashion industry, particularly in Visual Merchandising. I live and blog from Ortigas Center, Pasig City where there’s about five malls just a stone's throw away.


I really wish Visual Merchandisers would stumble upon this blog and know that shoppers appreciate their work, and at the same time, challenge them to come up with creative windows, just as in other parts of the globe! Meanwhile, I hope you’ll enjoy Window Shopping with me!
